Runway Favorite Monochrome Shirtdress

Last week’s runway show for the first plus size high-end designer collaboration confirmed that the Isabel Toledo x Lane Bryant collection was not only groundbreaking – it was gorgeous.  After viewing the full 50 look show, many commenters wondered why they couldn’t buy it all online immediately (I know I want the dress above ASAP!). A rep from Lane Bryant at the show said the new items would be released as a Summer collection, likely dropping in May.

A new interview with Fashionista.com reveals that this is just the beginning. Isabel Toledo’s interest in plus fashion is no passing whim: “For me, it’s really important that women are given the opportunity to be eccentric. The liberty, the freedom, the right to be eccentric, to be their size, and to have the freedom or the opportunity to enjoy fashion at any size […] I can’t imagine not having that, so I feel a duty to provide it.”

I absolutely love that commitment to free fashion expression and style at any size, and I am just as excited about what is to come: “Isabel has already designed and completed four collections, to debut over the course of this year. “This is just a sliver for the whole year,” Ruben said with a smile. “This is like a taste.””

I cannot wait for the Summer collection release, and to see what is next from this fabulous duo.
