Trend Report: Spring Pastels

Just like flowers blooming and florals being groundbreaking yet again, some trends are naturally perennial to Spring.  Pastels are evocative of the soft, hopeful nature of the season, so it is no surprise that they are back this year.  Just because something is expected doesn't mean it has to be boring, however.  The pastel options available in plus this year are GOOD, with styles for every aesthetic. Whether you want something sweet (like the mint confection from Fashion to Figure pictured above) or edgy (like the clear holographic rain coat pictured in the slideshow below), there are so many good pieces to shop now!  Click through to find your favorite - I've included options at many price points too.

Designer Collab: Sophie Theallet for Cacique, Valentine Collection

The latest lingerie collaboration from designer Sophie Theallet is here just in time for Valentine's Day.  The collection is equal parts  seductive (luxe lace in red and black, perfectly placed cutouts) and playful (like the nod to the French influence on the "Mon Amour" mesh camidoll).  I love the natural vibe of the campaign images too - it is refreshing to see models who aren't a classic hourglass, and who aren't photoshopped to inhuman smoothness.  I hope to see this trend continue.

OOTD: Fringe Dream

The moment I saw this perfect fringe jacket teased on Mynt 1792's Instagram months ago, I knew I had to have it.  Fringe is one of 2015's biggest trends, and what better application than a classic moto jacket in the hottest color of the season?  I love the drama of the long fringe, and the fact that they did not skimp on it: It goes from sleeve to sleeve, and covers the front and back.  Definitely twirl-worthy!

OOTD: Laced Up

So many of this year's trends are tied to the overarching retro aesthetic that has ruled the runways, and the proliferation of lace up details is just another example.  With an effect that is a strange marriage of hippie and sexy, lace up dresses and tops have a distinctly throwback feel.  I've been keeping an eye out for the right piece, and this marled grey skater dress from Boohoo's plus line got me to take the plunge (literally and figuratively, in this case).

34 Plus Size Jumpsuits for Fall

I am such a fan of jumpsuits - with just one piece of clothing, you're instantly pulled together and fashion forward.  There's a jumpsuit for every style and occasion, from laid back and casual to sleek and formal.  They've even received the Jenna Lyons stamp of approval for the red carpet.  I know from personal experience that the style can be intimidating for the uninitiated, but all you have to do is find one you love and you'll be a convert.  Fit is so important with jumpsuits, so don't be scared to try a bunch on, and send back the ones that don't fit.  Gwynnie Bee is great for this: It's where I got my 70's glam jumpsuit for Halloween(above); and in fact is how I found my first true jumpsuit love, the BB Dakota Adele.
