NYFW Recap: AW17 Part 1

Last September was the first time I skipped NYFW since I started attending, choosing to finally actually travel on our wedding anniversary (4 years after getting married!)  The trip was…

I’m Hosting a Shopping Party and You’re Invited!

I'm so excited to announce that I will be hosting the Housing Works Fashion Figures event on Thursday, April 16th, from 5-8 PM at their Tribeca location.  I hosted their inaugural plus fashion event last year, and I am so happy to be back for more. Housing Works is just awesome in general (I've attested to my love for them time and again), and last year's event was packed with fantastic deals in plus. This year has donations from personal favorites such as Mynt 1792, Fashion to Figure, NYDJ, and indie label Rue 107 - I am almost as excited to shop as I am to host, provide styling tips, and chat about plus fashion with all you babes! There will be drinks and snacks to nibble on while you peruse, and possible surprises throughout the night.  The event is free to attend and will be a blast.  If last year's crowd is any indication, you'll want to get there early to snag the best picks :) Check out the adorable promo video Housing Works made for the event below, and head to the event page for more info!

Gigi Burris NYFW SS15 Presentation

IMG_0144.JPG The focus of Fashion Week is always on clothes, but fashion does not start below the neck.  As someone who is just getting over my hangup of thinking I look weird in hats, it was fun to attend the SS15 presentation of Gigi Burris Millinery.  It was held at the gorgeous rooftop spot Gallow Green.  The fairy garden atmosphere and streaming sunlight set the tone for the dramatic and pretty Spring Summer 2015 collection.

OOTD: What I Wore to the Natori NYFW Afterparty

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="439"]IMG_4270-0.PNG Outfit snapped by the Natori photographer[/caption] Before the full craziness of NYFW kicked in, I spent a night hopping around designer events and presentations.  I started off at the Josie Natori afterparty.  I was unable to attend the show, but followed along on Instagram and delighted both in the stark whites and solids with great structure, and the use of bold prints - something Natori consistently excels at.  I particularly loved the final walk, which featured a run of new looks: All bright, flowy pants paired with a variety of crisp white tops.

What I Didn’t Buy: Forever 21 Plus

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="1016"]IMG_3919.JPG Solid Midi Dress, $16[/caption] Over a year ago on Instagram, I started using my #whatididntbuy hashtag to share my thoughts on the real-life fit of pieces I tried on that I might not like for myself, or be able to afford at the moment, but someone else might love.  Many brands that offer plus sizes do so in only a handful of stores around the country, so not everyone has the opportunity to try before they buy.  Since then, I've gotten a ton of great feedback on the tag, with many women telling me they decided to buy or not to based on my #whatididntbuy pics.  I know not everyone is on IG (but if you are, follow me at @curvily), so I am adding it to the blog.  With direct links to the product, its now easier to shop, too! Now on to this batch of pics from my latest trip to Forever 21 in Union Square:
